I’m Micah LaCerte – 40 Years Old. I am from Olathe, Kansas and now living In Kansas City, Missouri.
I was a pioneer within the online personal training space starting back in 2005 and launching one of the very 1st online training businesses in 2009.

I have been training for 22 Years. I started at 138 lbs at 6’00”. I was insecure about being so skinny so my initial goal was to get a body like Jean Claude Van Damme and the guys I saw on the covers of Fitness Magazines. Later on it was about using my platform to help inspire others.
Besides training, I played basketball, baseball and track while growing up.
I love traveling and seeing the world with my wife, also in my spare time I love playing video games, specifically rpg/adventure like Zelda, Final Fantasy, Last Of Us, Witcher, etc.

I love being able to wake up everyday feeling full of energy, being fit and confident and using my hardwork to inspire others to change their lives.
The challenges I set for myself in the gym carry over to other aspects of my life. Fitness is something I have control of, it’s a place that I use for therapy, a place I use to build confidence, a place I use to build strength internally and externally. It is not something I simply do but truly apart of who I am to the core.
⏱ Describe a typical day of training
I start my day with morning cardio using elliptical or treadmill then get at least 2-3 meals in then hit my weights workout in the afternoon.
My training changes as my goals change. When my goal is getting bigger and stronger, I stick to heavier movements and more rest. 5 Sets of 5-8 Reps, 4-6 exercises per muscle group, 6 days per week in the gym. I also cut my cardio back.
I split up my muscle groups over the course of the week:
- Monday – Chest
- Tuesday – Legs
- Wednesday – Back
- Thursday – Shoulders
- Friday – Arms and Calves
- Sat – Off
- Sunday – Typically start the week over
When I am focusing on getting lean I hit cardio 1-2 times per day, 30-40 minutes per, strength training is more intense and faster paced. I will do quite a bit of Tabata, supersets, dropsets, etc. I use the same exact split as I do when bulking.
👊 How do you keep going and push harder?
I have always had the ability to turn my level of dedication and motivation up when needed. I am a firm believer that once you set a goal and agree to commit then you do everything you can to reach that goal.
So once I lock in I will make every necessary change needed to reach the level I must. I am very driven off of inspiring others, so when the fuel in my tank is low I always think about those people out there that may need my help and it pushes me further.
I am driven in my life to make an impact on the World. That’s what pushes me.
🏆 How are you doing today and what does the future look like?
I was in full photo prep for about 6 months this year on 2 different huge projects. When I finished that I went in a reverse diet and have started adding some weight back on and allowing my body to recover for a bit.
I set up goals about 1 time per year for the next year and I plan on going into prep at the turn of the year for a big magazine photoshoot and some other big jobs for 2020.
We have lots of big plans for our business Hitch Fit. We opened our new gym about 1 year ago so are working on growing it. We are working on writing multiple books and plan on doing some speaking events.
These are all things I have planned, but the reality of the situation is that God’s plan for me may be different, so I hope to do the above but as new doors open we will take those opportunities too.
🤕 How do you recover, rest and handle injuries?
As we get older recovery is even that much more important. I have a few specific things that I do on a regular basis that help me recover at a good rate and help prevent injuries.
Stretching is something I take about 10-15 minutes out of my day to do. I do it in the am close to my cardio session. Massage is something I try and get a few times per month.
Epson salt baths I try and do multiple times per week. At times I will ice my muscles and I take all my supplements that help promote recovery like L-Glutamine from Magnum Nutraceuticals.
🍎 How is your diet and what supplements do you use?
My nutrition changes as my goals change. What I am going to tell you kind of goes against everything you read.
In 20+ years I have never personally followed macros perfectly, not when I won a WBFF World Championship, not when I landed the cover of Iron man. NEVER..I make that point because in my opinion it’s not necessary once you understand your body.
When I make plans for people I do break down calories, macros etc but only for educational purposes as it is important to learn.
The key is knowing and understanding your body then listening and watching it. You got to eat the right things in the right combos at the right times but trying to calculate down to the exact macro and calorie is honestly impossible.
Everytime you eat you burn a specific amount of calories which is impossible to 100% calculate, so even if I measure everything perfectly every meal I take in may burn at a different pace depending on when I eat and what I’m doing before and after.
Now that does not mean that you eat every carb in sight because your body told you to, lol.
You still have to stick to healthy principles but don’t stress yourself out with it all, unless you are preparing to step on stage and have to get geeky scientific with every molecule then just take a big breath and enjoy the process.
Make good choices, work hard and eat right, it’s a LIFESTYLE not a Quick fix. It’s not something you simply do it becomes apart of who you are.
I eat about 6-8 meals per day, balanced nutrition at the moment so good healthy carb, healthy fats and lean proteins!! I drink about 1-2 gallons of water per day. I do not drink alcohol or anything that will hinder me feeling my best.

👍 What has inspired and motivated you?
My motivation came from a place of being insecure. I grew up skinny and had an adult bully in my life that used to call me skinny, it drove me crazy, so at the age of 18 I took control and started transforming my body.
My motivation over the years changed when I started understanding what my true passion was and that was helping others.
I use the gym for many purposes, not only to build muscle and get strong but I use it as a place to decompress. I turn on my favorite music and I put the work in!!
✏️ Advice for other people who want to improve themselves?
The 1st thing that must that must happen is getting your mindset right. Much of success comes from what your mind is telling you.
Once that is in place then its about setting goals and creating a plan that will help you reach those goals.
If getting in amazing shape is your goal then it must be a top priority in your life. You have to eliminate the excuses that you create for yourself like, I am too busy, I am too old, etc. and replace that mindset with things like I will do whatever it takes to reach my goal, each day I will make choices that will lead me to my goal.
You must eat right for the goal of getting healthy and fit to become reality. I would say its 90% of the formula.
Look at it like this, working out is 1-2 hours per day max for most people, the rest of the day is surrounded around the foods and drinks you decide to consume. Don’t let poor nutrition hold you back from your goals.
