👋 Hi! Tell us about yourself and your training

Hi there! My name is Brittaney Johnston and I am currently 27 years old. I’ve been living in the Gold coast for about eight years now and absolutely love the lifestyle it offers, as well as its beautiful surroundings.

I’m a women of many interests, I’ve been modelling internationally since I was 15 years old and started acting from when I was 22 years old (but really since I was eight if you count filming yourself in your house every afternoon after school, pretending I’m in a TV Show) “haha”.

I’ve been modelling for about 13 years now and absolutely love every second of it. I’ve also just started up my very own model agency, called ‘Raw Talent Aus’, it’s a local agency on the Gold Coast and we manage kids, models and actors.

I’ve also written a book called ‘No Diet Needed’ which talks about how I lost 20 kg in four months by using mind power techniques, rather then dieting. I’m a big believer in shifting your mindset to positive thinking and living a healthy lifestyle combined with things you love, rather then feeling limited by a diet.

I currently live with my amazing partner and we’re very lucky to both share similar interests and hobbies together. Mike has his own health business ‘Ultimately Natural’ which is a natural protein and superfood company. He’s makes amazing products. All of our friends pretty much live off of his protein and superfoods.

If you wanted to see what a regular day in a week looks like, it usually goes like this:

  1. Waking up to drinking a hot lemon water & Super Greens, 1 tbsp of Bee Pollen (from Ultimately Natural) with my partner and sharing our dreams we had the night before.
  2. Meditating for 15 mins giving heart gratitude.
  3. Going for a morning Surf 1-2hrs.
  4. Having a delicious breakfast (eggs on sourdough, avocado, feta, tomato, tarot homemade chips with mayonnaise and chilli sauce) along with a Big Coffee made on Coconut Milk & a dash of honey.
  5. Getting to work, whether thats on my business or me actually going out to Model or Act.
  6. Going to the Gym for about 45mins doing weights, Legs, Arms, Abs, Boxing & finish off with some yoga stretching.
  7. Afternoon relaxing (whatever I feel like) spending time with my partner, then just winding down.
  8. Dinner and a nice Kombucha Fizzy drink for my immunity.
  9. Bed – Dream Time.

I’m a huge fan of surfing, skateboarding, tennis, basketball, hill sprints, yoga and nature walks. Anything that gets my body moving and using different muscles everyday.

⏱ Describe a typical day of training

I usually train with my partner and friends to keep it fun and different. We will usually do a surf in the morning for cardio, or alternatively when the surf is flat we’ll do some other form of HIIT training like hill sprints or boxing.

We keep these sessions short and intense, aiming for around 8-10 sets in 20-30 seconds bursts. We only rest for a minimum of 30-60 seconds in between and the whole session is usually done within 5-10 minutes.

Then in the afternoon, we like to go to the gym (Anytime Fitness Miami) and workout on Abs, Arms, Chest, Legs, and Butt. These sessions usually go for about 30-45 mins., sometimes more. We like to keep them fast and change them up so we don’t get bored.

I personally love having a shot of coffee ‘to fire me up before a session on a fasted stomach. After we do our workout we make sure we add protein ‘in the form of Vegan or Whey Protein Powder’ to our post workout smoothie.

👊 How do you keep going and push harder?

Sometimes the biggest challenges are the ones we need to face.

When I’m feeling unmotivated “hey we all have those moment’s” I really love to jump on Instagram and have a quick stalk on different Model’s pages so I can get some ideas for different workouts to try and also to get inspired by their incredible bodies.

Once the inspiration is there, I have a coffee and get going. I try not to over think it because this can sometimes be a trap, resulting in either staying at home, over working, or just being straight up lazy. Not what I’m looking for. So I do find that just ‘doing it’ is the best bet.

I have to train for my career because part of my job is having a healthy, fit body to sell all the products I’m representing. Music is also Key. If you’re listening to new beats I find this to be extremely inspiring and motivating. I always say to myself “when it hurts, that’s when you got to push through the pain and just do it.”

I try and train usually five days per week to keep it balanced and fun. Anymore then that is a bonus, but also keeping space for rest days. Sometimes the biggest challenges are the ones we need to face.

🏆 How are you doing today and what does the future look like?

Today in the life of Brittaney, things have been looking up. (besides this whole Corona Virus pandemic) which has certainly changed a lot of things in my industry and profession, I’m keeping a positive mind and putting out good vibes for it to cleanse the earth and replenish whats needed to be restored around the world.

Despite all of this change and uncertainty, I try to make the most of every challenge and situation, because what else can we do? I’d rather feel happy and hopeful than unhappy and lost.

Gyms are currently shut down at this time, so it’s back to good old home workouts and surfing. I have many goals to achieve, but ideally I would love to have a nice beach house, be married, with babies while keeping up my fitness regime (Surfing, Tennis, Basketball, Skateboarding, Gym & Running).

I will also be focusing on building my online businesses and travelling throughout the year. My plan is to take a step each day in the right direction and be grateful for everyday and each step along the way.

🤕 How do you recover, rest and handle injuries?

I love keeping up with stretching and yoga daily to make sure my body stays healthy and happy.

Recovery for me is taking my daily SuperGreens & Vegan/Whey Protein from (Ultimately Natural) www.ultimatelynatural.com.au as these keep me energised and ready to hit another session at the gym. I find when I’m not taking them my energy completely drops and I feel depleted. Therefore I need to make sure I’m on top of all of the things that fuel my body with vitamins.

I love keeping up with stretching and yoga daily to make sure my body stays healthy and happy. Travelling and exploring different continents of the world is definitely one of my favourite things to do, without it I don’t know if I could be my happiest self.

Also, drinking lots of water everyday is a BIG one for me, I’ll try and drink at least 3 litres per day minimum, if not more. I’ve heard that you should drink 1 litre per every 20 kgs you weigh, so I try and stick by this rule.

🍎 How is your diet and what supplements do you use?

My healthy lifestyle consists of lots of vegetables, vitamins, proteins, (fake meat), fish and lots of coconut products. I follow a pescatarian diet because I eat lots of veggies, seafood, nuts and fruits.

I’ve never been a calorie counter as this is a restricting practice and I don’t believe in restricting, but rather just respecting the foods I consume. I’m always just eating whatever I desire and whatever tastes good, but my body also tells me what it needs. My partner and I are both massive foodies too, so socialising and eating work hand in hand.

I regularly take all the superfoods from (Ultimately Natural) all having amazing benefits naturally for the body and energy levels. I’m not into chemicals or anything like that, I believe nature provides us with everything we need.

👍 What has inspired and motivated you?

My Mum is one of my biggest inspirations because she has shown me that no matter what the world throws at you, it will only make you a stronger better person.

I love reading “The Secret” or “The Power of NOW” “CHANGE YOUR LIFE” these sorts of self help books. I’m not a huge reader, I’m more of a YouTube, watch and learn type. But if i’m ever in the mood for reading I enjoy filling my mind with positive life altering material.

I love busting out moves to RNB & Hip Hop on the regular and sometimes I’ll opt for a more chilled out acoustic vibe for my gym sessions, just depends on the mood. I remember ‘Namoi Campbell’ telling me (a clean room is a clean mind) and I’m totally a believer of that. I’m OCD as ever and when I can’t keep my place tidy and clean I just about go insane and my whole day is off.

So I say to my partner, you cook and I’ll clean because it keeps me sane. I am very inspired by those around me, most of our friends are super positive and open minded and I love that.

My Mum is one of my biggest inspirations because she has shown me that no matter what the world throws at you, it will only make you a stronger better person. I love to follow my friend’s brand @xaharaactive for their fun workout videos and sexy active wear, it really is the most flattering and really brings home that saying “when you look good, you feel good”.

✏️ Advice for other people who want to improve themselves?

I’m a model not a bodybuilder but If I were to give advice on this, then I’d say keep focused, follow your mentors, make sure you’re following their advice and keep up your vitamins and nutrition.

🤝 Are you taking on clients right now?

I have new clients usually every week depending on my amount of bookings and also building my modelling business. I would love to be seen not just as a model but as a ‘Role Model’ for Health and Fitness in the Model Industry. I currently focusing my direction on being more online, rather than in person, so anyone anywhere can access the information and learn my training.
